NCF-75 Military Community and Cyber Security Innovation
Tuesday May 22, 2018
Tuesday May 22, 2018
Today our host Abe has a great conversation with Chief Warrant Officer John Falese, but that's about all we can say about military affiliations. It is a great discussion on Innovation from the perspective of a couple long term military intelligence officers. One of the things I picked up from this candid talk was the high level of stagnentation that both Abe and John have seen over the last few years in there career. Their question, where are the new ideas that will be game changers?
As they discussed what they saw at the recent AFCEA Cyberspace symposium, I admit that we had the same experience with recent attendance of the RSA security conference. It themes seem to be a replay of last year, with a few incremental changes. I would have to agree, that the cyber security industry as a whole needs some new ideas.
You will not want to miss the candid talk today, I enjoyed and learned a lot from from these seasoned cyber warriors.

It's an exciting time as we announce an unprecedented move by the State of Colorado to legislate requirements to use Blockchain in State Governance programs. Our Guest today, Trace Ridpath, is the Director of Security Governance for the Colorado Governor's Office of Information Technology. Back in 2017 we interviewed Colorado Senator Kent Lambert who was in the process of introducing the bill to require the use of BlockChain to create transparency and accountability in government programs. Today we are happy to say, it is law in the state of Colorado.
Trace talks about the struggles governments have with consistency, and some of the places that Blockchain will be applied to provide uniformity between agencies and transparency to the public. On his list are Real Estate, Medicaid, Identify management, DMV Records, Food Safety, and more that we did not discuss. This new direction begins today, and as Senator Lambert first voiced on NFC-SR9, Colorado is set to be a global leader in blockchain for government.

Welcome to the history of Cyber Security according to William Blake (Part 1). This is a great show as some many obscure things we take for granted in the information age are brought to light. Many of the lessons from our days past that Bill brings up in the show, were new to me also. It is always great to have such a seasoned veteran to talk with about how many of the things we do today began as other things.
Thanks for taking the time to educate our audience Bill.

NCF-70 Cyber Security Managed Services the New trend with Guest from Istonish
Tuesday Mar 27, 2018
Tuesday Mar 27, 2018
Today we discuss a new trend in cyber security where companies are moving to managed service providers for infrastructure and cyber security. Lately we have heard even the military saying that outsourcing large portions of infrastructure to shared service providers is a good idea. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is what our guest and his company Istonish bring to today’s conversation with our host Abe Thompson.
As organizations realize they need better security for their assets, but at the same time that they may not be the experts in IT, they are turning to IaaS providers in large numbers. Hear some advice from Mr. Bovee on the what, where, and how to make such a transition seamless. If you are a startup company, IaaS may be the way to go from the beginning. Thanks for the very relevant and timely discussion today, as so many organizations are looking for advice before making decisions on moving to IaaS.
